أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُزَكِّي ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ
لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ} [الممتحنة 12] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَلَا يَعْصِينَكَ} [الممتحنة 12] كَانَتْ مِنْهُ النِّيَاحَةُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا آلَ فُلَانٍ فَإِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا أَسْعَدُونِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَا بُدَّ لِي مِنْ أَنْ أُسْعِدَهُمْ فَقَالَ «إِلَّا آلَ فُلَانٍ»

✧ When it was revealed: {When the believing women come to you pledging allegiance to you} [al-Mumtahanah 12] up to His saying {and they do not disobey you} [al-Mumtahanah 12], among it was wailing. I said: O Messenger of Allah, except the family of so-and-so, for they helped me in the pre-Islamic era, so I must help them. He said: “Except the family of so-and-so.”
