✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Jaʿfar b. Abi Talib to the land of Abyssinia. When he arrived, he embraced him and kissed him between his eyes, then said, “Shall I not grant you something? Shall I not give you glad tidings? Shall I not bestow upon you? Shall I not gift you?” He said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Pray four rak'ahs, reciting in each rak'ah the Opening of the Book and a surah. Then after the recitation, while standing before bowing, say: ‘Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is most great, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah’ fifteen times. Then bow and say them ten times, completing this rak'ah before beginning the second. Do this in the three rak'ahs as I described to you until you complete four rak'ahs.” “This is a sound isnad, free from defect. Among the evidence for the authenticity of this hadith is the practice of the imams from the followers of the Followers up to our own time, their persistence in it, and their teaching it to people—among them ʿAbdullah b. al-Mubarak, may Allah have mercy on him.”
