أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُوسَى الْقَاضِي إِمْلَاءً ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنْبَأَ الرَّبِيعُ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَا ثنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ قَرْثَعٍ الضَّبِّيِّ وَكَانَ قَرْثَعٌ مِنَ الْقُرَّاءِ الْأَوَّلِينَ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«يَا سَلْمَانُ مَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ؟» قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «يَا سَلْمَانُ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيهِ جَمَّعَ أَبُوكَ أَوْ أَبُوكُمْ وَأَنَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَمَا أُمِرَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَيَقْعُدُ وَيُنْصِتُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ صَلَاتَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ»

✧ "O Salman, what is the day of Jumuʿah?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "O Salman, the day of Jumuʿah is the day on which your father—or your forefather—was gathered. And I will tell you about the day of Jumuʿah: no man purifies himself on the day of Jumuʿah as he has been commanded, then leaves his house until he comes to the Jumuʿah prayer, then sits and listens attentively until he finishes his prayer, except that it is an expiation for what came before it from the previous Jumuʿah."
