✧ I came to Madinah and was stricken with severe hunger. I entered an orchard, took an ear of grain, ate from it, and put some in my garment. The owner of the orchard came, beat me, and took what was in my garment. He said: We went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'You did not teach him when he was ignorant, nor feed him when he was hungry.' Then he ordered for me half a wasq of barley.
