✧ "We complained to the Messenger of God ﷺ about the intense heat of the sun-baked ground, but he did not respond to our complaint."

✧ We entered upon Khabbab after he had been cauterized. He said, "I do not know anyone who met with as much affliction as I did. I remained during the time of the Prophet ﷺ without finding a single dirham, while in the corner of this house of mine there are forty thousand. Were it not that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us—or forbade anyone—from wishing for death, I would have wished for it."

✧ "I was a blacksmith in the pre-Islamic era. Al-'As b. Wa'il owed me some dirhams, so I went to him to demand payment. He said, 'I will not pay you until you disbelieve in Muhammad!' I said, 'I will not disbelieve in Muhammad ﷺ until God causes you to die and then resurrects you.' He said, 'Leave me until I die and then am resurrected, so that I will have wealth and children, and then I will pay you!' So this verse was revealed: 'Have you seen the one who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children"?'"
