✧ The Prophet ﷺ said during his illness, "Pour over me seven waterskins from seven different wells so that I may go out to the people and give them my final instructions." He said: So we seated him in a basin belonging to Hafsah and poured water over him—or we sprinkled it on him—the doubt is from Muhammad b. Ishaq. He felt relief, so he went out and ascended the pulpit, praised and extolled Allah, sought forgiveness for the martyrs among the companions of Uhud, and supplicated for them. Then he said, "Now then, the Ansar are my closest inner circle to whom I turned for refuge. Honor their noble ones and overlook their wrongdoers except in legal penalties. Indeed, a servant from among the servants of Allah has been given the choice between this world and what is with Allah, and he has chosen what is with Allah." Abu Bakr wept, thinking that he meant himself.
