✧ Fatimah bt. Abi Hubaysh said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who has prolonged bleeding. Should I abandon the prayer?” He said, “No, that is only a vein and not the menses. When the menses comes, then leave the prayer. When its usual duration has passed, wash the blood from yourself, perform ablution, and pray.”
Notes

in مسند الدارمي, p. 803 - Abū Zakariyyā Yaḥyá b. Sharaf al-Nawawī
machine translationMuslim omitted it because it is among the narrations that Ḥammād was alone in reporting.
in مسند الدارمي, p. 803 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationHishām b. ʿUrwah, in the narration of Mālik and others, did not mention the menstrual period (qarʾ) in it, and Hishām is a better memorizer than the one who differed from him in that.
machine translation"Wash the trace of the blood from yourself and perform ablution." The correct view is that this phrase is from the words of ʿUrwah, on the evidence of Hishām's statement: "My father said: then she performs ablution."

machine translationHishām b. ʿUrwah narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Al-Awzāʿī narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Anṣārī, from Hishām b. ʿUrwah, from his father, from Fāṭimah bint Qays, and he erred in it. The correct report is from Hishām, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, that Fāṭimah bint Abī Ḥubaysh […]
