"I heard Ibn 'Abbas saying that a man was injured in the head at the time of the Messenger of Allah, then he had a wet dream. He was told to have a bath, so he took the bath, became rigid and stiff, and died. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'They have killed him, may Allah kill them! Is not the cure for a lack of knowledge to ask questions?'"'Ata' said: "We heard that the Messenger of Allah said: 'If only he had washed his body and left his head alone where the wound was.'"
machine translationAl-Zubayr b. Khurayq was alone in narrating it, and al-Dāraquṭnī said likewise. He said: he is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī), and al-Awzāʿī contradicted him and narrated it from ʿAṭāʾ from Ibn ʿAbbās, and that is the correct version (al-ṣawāb).

machine translationThere is disagreement about al-Awzāʿī: it was said, from him, "from ʿAṭāʾ," and it was said, "it reached me from ʿAṭāʾ." Al-Awzāʿī transmitted its ending as a mursal report from ʿAṭāʾ from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is the correct version (al-ṣawāb).
in مسند الدارمي, p. 776 - Ishbīlī
