أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ أَنَّهُمْ غَزَوْا غَزْوَةَ السَّلَاسِلِ فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ فَقَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ كَمَا أُمِرَ وَصَلَّى كَمَا أُمِرَ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ» أَكَذَاكَ يَا عُقْبَةُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever performs ablution as he was commanded and prays as he was commanded, his previous deeds are forgiven. Is that so, O Uqbah? He said: Yes.
