✧ The Blame for Seeking Knowledge for Other than Allah

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ

قَالَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا رَبِّ أَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَحْكَمُ؟ قَالَ الَّذِي يَحْكُمُ لِلنَّاسِ كَمَا يَحْكُمُ لِنَفْسِهِ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ أَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَغْنَى؟ قَالَ أَرْضَاهُمْ بِمَا قَسَمْتُ لَهُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ أَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَخْشَى لَكَ؟ قَالَ أَعْلَمُهُمْ بِي

Translation

  3. ʿAṭāʾ

✧ Musa ﷺ said: “O Lord, which of Your servants is most wise?” He said: “The one who judges for people as he judges for himself.” He said: “O Lord, which of Your servants is richest?” He said: “The one most content with what I have apportioned for him.” He said: “O Lord, which of Your servants is most fearful of You?” He said: “The one most knowledgeable of Me.”
