✧ Whoever seeks knowledge without intention, knowledge returns to intention

أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْبَزَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ
«لَقَدْ طَلَبَ أَقْوَامٌ الْعِلْمَ مَا أَرَادُوا بِهِ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وَلَا مَا عِنْدَهُ» قَالَ «فَمَا زَالَ بِهِمُ الْعِلْمُ حَتَّى أَرَادُوا بِهِ اللَّهَ وَمَا عِنْدَهُ»
Translation

✧ “Some people sought knowledge, not intending thereby Allah Almighty nor what is with Him.” He said: “But knowledge did not cease to accompany them until they intended thereby Allah and what is with Him.”
