Sunan ad-Darimi 3177

✧ In the summer, the servant gets married.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ

«أَيُّمَا حُرٍّ تَزَوَّجَ أَمَةً فَقَدْ أَرَقَّ نِصْفَهُ وَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ يَتَزَوَّجُ حُرَّةً فَقَدْ أَعْتَقَ نِصْفَهُ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد يَعْنِي الْوَلَدَ

Translation

✧ Any free man who marries a slave woman has enslaved half of himself, and any slave who marries a free woman has freed half of himself. Abu Muhammad said: Meaning the child.
