✧ Inheritance of Close Relatives

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ فِرَاسٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ زِيَادٍ قَالَ

«أُتِيَ عُمَرُ فِي عَمٍّ لِأُمٍّ وَخَالَةٍ فَأَعْطَى الْعَمَّ لِلْأُمِّ الثُّلُثَيْنِ وَأَعْطَى الْخَالَةَ الثُّلُثَ»

✧ ʿUmar was brought a case concerning a maternal uncle through the mother and a maternal aunt, and he gave the maternal uncle through the mother two thirds and gave the maternal aunt one third.
