✧ He narrated that on that day the Prophet ﷺ sat on a camel—I am not sure whether it was a male or a female—and a man held its halter, or he said its reins. He said, "Which day is this?" We remained silent, thinking that he would call it by a different name. He said, "Is it not the day of sacrifice?" We said, "Indeed." He said, "Which month is this?" We remained silent, thinking that he would call it by a different name. He said, "Is it not Dhu'l-Hijjah?" We said, "Indeed." He said, "Which land is this?" We remained silent, thinking that he would call it by a different name. He said, "Is it not the sacred city?" We said, "Indeed." He said, "Verily, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred among you like the sanctity of this day, in this month, in this land. Let those present convey to those absent, for the one present may convey to someone who understands better than he does."

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationYazīd b. Ibrāhīm al-Tustarī narrates it from Muḥammad b. Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah, and ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī said the same from Yazīd. But it is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from Abū Hurayrah. Rather, Muḥammad b. Sīrīn narrated it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakrah from his father. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī said this, as did Muʿtamir from Ayyūb and others, narrating it from Ibn Sīrīn from Abū Bakrah. The ḥadīth of Abū Bakrah is the preserved one (maḥfūẓ).

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIbn ʿAwn narrates it from Ibn Sīrīn, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakrah, from his father, but he erred in it (wahima). Rather, Ibn Sīrīn narrated it from Anas b. Mālik. Likewise Ayyūb and Hishām narrated it from Ibn Sīrīn, and that is the correct version.
