✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to give charity, and it coincided with me having wealth. I said: 'Today I will surpass Abu Bakr, if I ever surpass him one day.' He said: So I brought half of my wealth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'What have you left for your family?' I said: 'The like of it.' He said: Then Abu Bakr came with all that he had. He said: 'O Abu Bakr, what have you left for your family?' He said: 'I left for them Allah and His Messenger.' I said: 'I will never race you to anything ever.'
