✧ A time passed over us when we did not judge, and we were not in that position. Allah has decreed that we have reached what you see. Whoever is presented with a judgment after today, let him judge in it by what is in the Book of Allah ﷻ. If there comes to him what is not in the Book of Allah, let him judge by what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged. If there comes to him what is not in the Book of Allah and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not judge it, let him judge by what the righteous judged. Let him not say: 'I fear' or 'I think'. The haram is clear and the halal is clear, and between them are doubtful matters. So leave what causes you doubt for what does not cause you doubt."

machine translationWe used to think that Sufyān had made an error in it, until I saw Muʾammal narrating it from Sufyān, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿUmārah, from Ḥurayth b. Ẓuhayr and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Yazīd. So both statements turned out to be sound.
