Sunan ad-Darimi 1339

✧ Detestability of looking upwards towards the sky in prayer.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ خَلِيلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ أَنْبَأَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدْ رَفَعُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَ «لَتَنْتَهُنَّ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكُمْ أَبْصَارُكُمْ»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque while they had raised their eyes in prayer toward the sky. He said: 'Stop that, or your sight will not return to you.'
