أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ أنْبأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا فِيهَا فُلَانٌ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ فَمَنْ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الْكَبِيرَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I stay away from the dawn prayer because so-and-so makes it very long for us.” I never saw the Prophet ﷺ angrier in giving an admonition than he was that day. He said, “O people, there are some among you who drive others away. Whoever leads the people in prayer should make it brief, for among them are the old, the weak, and those with needs.”
