✧ The dislike of youth

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَنبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ بَلَغَنَا

أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ أَكَانَ هَذَا؟ فَإِنْ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَدْ كَانَ حَدَّثَ فِيهِ بِالَّذِي يَعْلَمُ وَالَّذِي يَرَى وَإِنْ قَالُوا لَمْ يَكُنْ قَالَ فَذَرُوهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ Zayd b. Thabit al-Ansari ؓ used to say, when asked about a matter, "Has this happened?" If they said, "Yes, it has happened," he would speak about it with what he knew and what he deemed correct. If they said, "It has not happened," he would say, "Then leave it until it happens."
