machine translationIt has also been found defective (muʿall) on two grounds. The first is the criticism of Abū Bakr b. Abī Maryam; Abū Ḥātim and Abū Zurʿah said: he is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī). The second is that Marwān b. Janāḥ narrated it from ʿAṭiyyah b. Qays from Muʿāwiyah as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf). Ibn ʿAdī narrated it in this way and said: Marwān is more reliable than Abū Bakr b. Abī Maryam.

machine translationAbū Bakr b. Abī Maryam: strange reports (gharāʾib) predominate in his hadith, and few of the trustworthy narrators agree with him on it. His hadith are acceptable (ṣāliḥah), but he is among those whose hadith is not used as proof, though his hadith is written down.
