upon it. And he is not strong in ḥadīth. What is preserved from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Salamah, from ʿĀʾishah is that the Prophet ﷺ used to kiss while fasting. Likewise the trustworthy memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated it from al-Zuhrī, among them Maʿmar, ʿUqayl and Ibn Abī Dhiʾb. Mālik said, from al-Zuhrī, regarding the kiss: ablution is required. Had what Saʿīd b. Bashīr narrated from Manṣūr, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Salamah, from ʿĀʾishah been sound, al-Zuhrī would not have given a legal opinion contrary to it. And Allah knows best.

machine translationI do not know anyone who narrated it from Manṣūr other than Saʿīd b. Bashīr.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 488
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThis is a rejected (munkar) ḥadīth with no basis among the narrations of al-Zuhrī. I said to my father: From whom does the error come? He said: From Saʿīd b. Bashīr.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 488
  • Sulaymān b. Aḥmad al-Ṭabarānī

machine translationNo one narrated it from al-Zuhrī except Manṣūr.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 488
  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationAl-Bayhaqī mentioned in al-Khilāfiyyāt that most of its narrators up to the son of al-Zuhrī's brother are unknown (majhūl), and it should be examined.

machine translationSaʿīd was alone in narrating it, and he is not strong. End of quote. This Saʿīd was declared trustworthy by Shuʿbah and Duḥaym, as Ibn al-Jawzī said, and al-Ḥākim narrated from him in al-Mustadrak. Ibn ʿAdī said: I see no harm in what he narrates, and truthfulness predominates in him. End of quote. The least that can be said of such a narrator is that his narration may be used as corroboration.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 488

machine translationAl-Dāraquṭnī did not find any flaw in it except that Manṣūr contradicted him.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 488
