machine translationAbū ʿUmar said: Whoever rejects the hadith of Jābir and the hadith of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, "We used to sell the mothers of children (ummahāt al-awlād) in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," and does not accept it, is obliged to reject the statement of Ibn ʿUmar, "We used to rank people in order of merit in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," and not accept it either. Rather, the statement of Ibn ʿUmar is more deserving of rejection, because it has no basis, whereas the sale of the mothers of children is prohibited by the Sunnah on which there is consensus.
