- Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī
machine translationThe ruling goes to the one who raised it, because he added something. A narrator may give a legal opinion on a matter and then narrate it another time, and the halted (mawqūf) report is made a legal opinion, so it does not contradict the raised (marfūʿ) one.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 419 - Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī
machine translationIt has been narrated as raised (marfūʿ) and as halted (mawqūf). al-Bayhaqī said: The halted version is closer to being correct.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 419 - al-Bukhari
machine translationWhoever raised it has erred.
