ʿUmar al-Qāḍī [said]: al-Faḍl b. Mūsā narrated to us: ʿAwn, meaning Ibn Kahmas, narrated to us: my father narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh b. Buraydah, who said: A young woman came to ʿĀʾishah and said: "My father married me to his brother's son to raise him up from his lowly status, and I disliked that." She said: "Sit until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ comes, and mention that to him." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and she mentioned that to him. He sent for her father, and her father came, and he gave the matter over to her. When she saw that the matter had been given over to her, she said: "I have approved what my father did. I only wanted to know whether women have any say in the matter or not." Ibn al-Junayd said: She said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have approved what my father did, but I wanted to know whether women have any say in the matter or not."

machine translationKahmas b. al-Ḥasan narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Jaʿfar b. Sulaymān al-Ḍubaʿī, ʿAlī b. Gharāb and Wakīʿ narrated it from Kahmas, from Ibn Buraydah, from ʿĀʾishah. But ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs, Yazīd b. Hārūn and ʿAwn b. Kahmas contradicted them; they narrated it from Kahmas, from Ibn Buraydah, that a young woman came to ʿĀʾishah and said: "My father married me and did not consult me," then the Prophet ﷺ came and she mentioned that to him. So in the narration of these three it is mursal (with the Companion omitted), and that is closer to the correct view.
