نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَاضَوْا بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ البقرة 232 قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ قَالَ كُنْتُ زَوَّجْتُ أُخْتًا لِي مِنْ رَجُلٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا حَتَّى انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَقُلْتُ لَهُ زَوَّجْتُكَ وَفَرَشْتُكَ وَأَكْرَمْتُكَ فَطَلَّقْتَهَا ثُمَّ جِئْتُ تَخْطُبُهَا لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تَعُودُ إِلَيْهَا أَبَدًا قَالَ وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ وَكَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى هَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ فَقُلْتُ الْآنَ أَفْعَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَزَوَّجَهَا إِيَّاهُ وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ عَبَّادُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَسَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مَعْقِلٍ

✧ He said concerning the words of Allah Almighty, “Do not prevent them from marrying their husbands, when they have mutually agreed among themselves with what is right” (al-Baqarah 232). He said: Ma‘qil b. Yasar al-Muzani narrated to us that it was revealed concerning him. He said: I had married a sister of mine to a man, and he divorced her until her waiting period ended. Then he came to propose to her. I said to him, “I married her to you, gave you a bed and honored you, then you divorced her, and now you come proposing to her. No, by Allah, she will never return to you ever.” He said: The man was blameless, and the woman wanted to return to him. He said: Then Allah Almighty sent down these verses, and I said, “Now I will do it, O Messenger of Allah.” So he married her to him. Likewise it was narrated by ‘Abbad b. Rashid from al-Hasan, and Sa‘id from Qatadah from al-Hasan from Ma‘qil.
