machine translationThe correct view is that it is a statement of a Companion (mawqūf).
machine translationIbn al-Mughallis al-Ẓāhirī found it defective (aʿallahu) on another ground, namely that Qatādah, who narrates it from ʿAzrah, did not say "he narrated to us" nor "I heard," and he is an imām in concealment (tadlīs). He said: Some of the people of knowledge have said that this report is not established, because Saʿīd b. Abī ʿArūbah used to narrate this hadith in Basra and make this statement the saying of Ibn ʿAbbās without giving it a chain of transmission (isnād), while in Kufa he would make it a connected, attributed report (musnad).
machine translationThere are many weak (ḍaʿīf) routes, which we have refrained from mentioning because there is no need for them, especially since these sound (ṣaḥīḥ) routes have also been declared defective (muʿallah).
