machine translationʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr traced it back to the Prophet (raised it, marfūʿ) from al-Zuhrī, and he is among the trustworthy narrators who raise reports. There was disagreement about al-Zuhrī regarding its chain. ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated it from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father, from Ḥafṣah, as her own statement, and al-Zubaydī and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq followed him in this from al-Zuhrī. Ibn al-Mubārak said, from Maʿmar and Ibn ʿUyaynah, from al-Zuhrī, from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdillāh, from his father, from Ḥafṣah. Likewise Bishr b. al-Mufaḍḍal said from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq, and likewise Isḥāq b. Rāshid and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Khālid said from al-Zuhrī. Others than Ibn al-Mubārak narrate it from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from al-Zuhrī, from Ḥamzah, and there was disagreement about Ibn ʿUyaynah regarding its chain. Likewise Ibn Wahb said from Yūnus, from al-Zuhrī. Ibn Wahb also said, from Yūnus, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from Ibn ʿUmar, as his own statement, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Namir followed him in this from al-Zuhrī. Al-Layth said, from ʿUqayl, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, that ʿAbdullāh and Ḥafṣah said that. ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī, and there was disagreement about him. 130

  • Abū Daʾūd

machine translationIts attribution to the Prophet ﷺ (raf') is not sound.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationWhich of them is more sound? He said: I do not know, because ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr met Sālim and narrated from him, and I do not know whether this hadith is among what he heard from Sālim or whether he heard it from al-Zuhrī from Sālim. It has also been narrated from al-Zuhrī, from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdillāh b. ʿUmar, from Ḥafṣah, as her statement, not attributed to the Prophet ﷺ (ghayr marfūʿ), and this is more likely in my view. And God knows best.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThere is inconsistency (iḍṭirāb) in the chain of this hadith, and in it is Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb al-Ghāfiqī, about whom al-Nasāʾī said: not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī).

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationI do not know which of the two is more sound, meaning the narration of Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb from ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr from al-Zuhrī from Sālim with it, from her, as raised (marfūʿ), and the narration of Isḥāq b. Ḥāzim from ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr from Sālim without the intermediary of al-Zuhrī; but the halted version (mawqūf) is more likely, that is, the narration of al-Zuhrī from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar from her, as her own statement, halted (mawqūf).

machine translationThe correct view in my opinion is that it is halted (mawqūf), and its attribution to the Prophet (raf') is not sound.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217
  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThis was narrated from al-Zuhrī from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar from Ḥafṣah as her own statement, and that is more likely in my view.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2217
