حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ حِمَاسٍ أَوْ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ حِمَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَبِيعُ الْأُدُمَ وَالْجِعَابَ فَمَرَّ بِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالَ لِي أَدِّ صَدَقَةَ مَالِكَ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّمَا هُوَ فِي الْأُدُمِ قَالَ قَوِّمْهُ ثُمَّ أَخْرِجْ صَدَقَتَهُ

✧ I used to sell leather and quivers. Umar b. al-Khattab passed by me and said, 'Pay the zakah on your wealth.' I said, 'O Commander of the Faithful, it is only in leather.' He said, 'Estimate its value, then pay its zakah.'
