حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الصُّوفِيُّ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ صَلْتٍ الْمَكِّيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ قَالَ

كَانَتْ أَمْوَالُهُمْ عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ فَلَمَّا دَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِمْ وَجَدُوهَا بِنَقْصٍ فَحَسَبُوهَا مَعَ الزَّكَاةِ فَوَجَدُوهَا تَامَّةً فَأَتَوْا عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ كُنْتُمْ تَرَوْنَ أَنْ يَكُونَ عِنْدِي مَالٌ لَا أُزَكِّيهِ

✧ Their wealth was with Ali. When he returned it to them, they found it had decreased, so they calculated it along with the zakah and found it complete. They came to Ali and he said, "Did you think I had wealth that I did not pay zakah on?"
