✧ He used to recite: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path – the path of those You have blessed, not of those who have incurred wrath, nor of those who have gone astray. He would cut it off verse by verse and count it as the bedouins count, and he counted 'Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim' [Al-Fatiha 1] as a verse, but he did not count 'upon them' [Al-Fatiha 7].

  • Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī

machine translationIn it is ʿUmar b. Hārūn al-Balkhī, who is criticized (majrūḥ); more than one of the Imams spoke against him. From Aḥmad: "I do not narrate anything from him." From Yaḥyā: "He is nothing." From Ibn al-Mubārak: "a liar (kadhdhāb)." From al-Nasāʾī: "abandoned in hadith (matrūk al-ḥadīth)." And from Ibn al-Jawzī, from Yaḥyā: "a vile liar; his hadith is nothing."
