Virtues of Sa'd bin Ubadah ᴿᴬ

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ قَالَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

خَيْرُ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَكَانَ ذَا قِدَمٍ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ أَرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ فَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا فَقِيلَ لَهُ قَدْ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى نَاسٍ كَثِيرٍ

Translation

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best of the Ansar's houses are those of Bani An-Najjar, then those of Bani ʿAbdul Ash-hal, then those of Bani Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, then those of Bani Saida; but there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar." Saʿd bin Ubada who was one of those who embraced Islam early, said, "I see that Messenger of Allah ﷺ is giving others superiority above us." Some people said to him, "But he has given you superiority above many other people."
