حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، نَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
جَلَسَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَلَكُ مَا نَزَلَ مُنْذُ يَوْمِ خُلِقَ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّكَ إِلَيْكَ بَيْنَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ رَبُّكَ مَلِكًا أَوْ عَبْدًا رَسُولًا ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ: تَوَاضَعْ لِرَبِّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ. قَالَ: عَبْدًا رَسُولًا

✧ Jibril sat with the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, this angel has not descended since the day he was created. When he descended, he said, 'O Muhammad, I am a messenger from your Lord to you, to choose between your Lord making you a king or a servant messenger.'" Jibril said to him, "Humble yourself before your Lord, O Muhammad." He said, "A servant messenger."
