حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ بُهْلُولٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُسْتَنِيرِ قَالَا: نَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، نَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

كَانَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ؟ قَالَ مُعَاذٌ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: حَقُّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا. قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا عَبَدُوهُ وَلَمْ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ مُعَاذٌ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ ﷺ: حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ. قَالَ مُعَاذٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَا آتِي النَّاسَ فَأُبَشِّرُهُمْ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَا، دَعْهُمْ فَلْيَعْمَلُوا

Translation

✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you know what Allah's right upon the servants is?" Mu'adh said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "His right upon them is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you know what the servants' right upon Allah is if they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him?" Mu'adh said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He ﷺ said, "Their right upon Him is that He admits them to Paradise." Mu'adh said, "O Messenger of Allah, shall I not go to the people and give them glad tidings?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, leave them so that they may act."
