حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِنُجْحٍ - هَكَذَا أَحْسَبُهُ أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ - وَاقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ، اللَّهُمَّ زَوِّ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ intended to travel, he would say: O God, You are the companion in travel and the deputy among the family. O God, accompany us with success – this is how I think it was, or similar wording – and return us with protection. O God, contract the earth for us and make the journey easy for us. O God, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the gloom of the return.
