✧ Abu Jahl said: Does Muhammad rub his face in the dirt among you? They said: Yes. He said: By al-Lat and al-'Uzza, if I see him doing that I will tread on his neck and rub his face in the dust. He said: One day it was said to him: There he is praying. He came, asserting he would do to him what he said. He said: The people were not surprised except that he was retreating on his heels and guarding himself with his hands. The people came to him and said: What is the matter with you, O Abu al-Hakam? He said: Between me and him is a trench of fire, and terror, and wings. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: If he had come near me, the angels would have snatched him limb by limb. He said: So God sent down upon His Prophet: Have you seen the one who forbids a servant when he prays? Have you seen if he is upon guidance or enjoins righteousness? Have you seen if he denies and turns away? Does he not know that God sees? No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - a lying, sinful forelock. Then let him call his associates; We will call the guards of Hell. He said: The angels said: No! Do not obey him. He said: And he was commanded with what he was commanded.
