✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was between Dajnan and 'Usfan when the polytheists said: 'These people have a prayer that is dearer to them than their fathers and sons, and that is the 'Asr prayer. So resolve your matter and fall upon them in one assault.' And Jibril ﷺ came to the Prophet ﷺ and ordered him to divide his companions into two groups, and pray with one group, and the other group would stand behind them, and these would take their guard and their weapons. Thus they would have one rak'ah each, and the Messenger of God ﷺ would have two rak'ahs.
