كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ يَحْيَى بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّ أَبَا هَمَّامٍ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ: نَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ; أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
غَزَا نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ قَالَ: لَا يَتْبَعْنِي، أَوْ لَا يَغْزُو مَعِي رَجُلٌ بَنَى بِنَاءً لَمْ يَفْرُغْ مِنْهُ، وَلَا رَجُلٌ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً لَمْ يَبْنِ بِهَا، قَالَ: وَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنَ الشَّمْسِ إِلَّا شَيْءٌ يَسِيرٌ، قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ مَأْمُورَةٌ وَأَنَا مَأْمُورٌ، اللَّهُمَّ احْبِسْهَا، فَحَبَسَهَا اللهُ سَاعَةً حَتَّى فَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ، فَأَمَرَ بِالْمَغَانِمِ فَجُمِعَتْ فَجَاءَتِ النَّارُ فَلَمْ تَأْكُلْهَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ فِيكُمْ غُلُولًا، فَلْيَأْتِنِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَبِيلَةٍ رَجُلٌ فَلْنُبَايِعْهُ، فَلَصِقَتْ يَدُهُ بِيَدِ رَجُلٍ أَوْ رَجُلَيْنِ، فَقَالَ فِيكُمُ الْغُلُولُ فَأَخْرِجُوهُ، فَأَخْرَجُوا رَأْسَ بَقَرَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَأَلْقَوْهُ فِي الْغَنَائِمِ - فَأَكَلَتْهُ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: النَّارُ - فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فَلَمْ تَحِلَّ الْغَنَائِمُ لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَنَا، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ اللهَ رَأَى ضَعْفَنَا فَطَيَّبَهَا لَنَا

✧ A prophet among the prophets went on a military expedition after 'asr. He said: No one should follow me, or no one should go on the expedition with me, a man who has built a building and not finished it, nor a man who has married a woman and not consummated the marriage with her. He said: Only a little of the sun remained. He said: O Allah, the sun is commanded and I am commanded; O Allah, hold it back. So Allah held it back for an hour until Allah granted him victory. Then he ordered the spoils of war to be collected, and they were gathered. Then fire came and did not consume them. He said: There is stolen war booty (ghulul) among you, so let a man from each tribe come to me and we will pledge allegiance to him. His hand stuck to the hand of a man or two men. He said: Among you is the ghulul, so bring it out. They brought out a cow's head made of gold and threw it into the spoils. I think he said: The fire consumed it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: War spoils were not lawful for anyone before us, and that is because Allah saw our weakness and made them good for us.
