كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عَمِّهِ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:
النَّاسُ دِثَارٌ، وَالْأَنْصَارُ شِعَارٌ، وَلَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَلَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ وَادِيًا لَسَلَكْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَإِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ
Translation

✧ The people are a covering, and the Ansar are an undergarment. Were it not for the emigration, I would have been a man from the Ansar. If the people were to traverse a valley and the Ansar another valley, I would traverse the mountain pass of the Ansar. Indeed you will meet after me favoritism, so be patient until you meet me at the Pool.
