حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْحِمْصِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَابْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ، فَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ ابْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ نَضْلَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ وَهُوَ حَلِيفٌ لِبَنِي زُهْرَةَ، أَقَصُرَتْ أَمْ نَسِيتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ أَنْسَ وَلَمْ تَقْصُرْ، قَالَ ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ: قَدْ كَانَ بَعْضُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ: أَصَدَقَ ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَمَّ الصَّلَاةَ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Zuhr or 'Asr and said the salam after two rak'ahs. Dhu al-Shimalayn b. 'Amr b. Nadlah al-Khuza'i, an ally of Banu Zuhrah, said to him: 'Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'I did not forget and it has not been shortened.' Dhu al-Shimalayn said: 'Some of that has happened.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to the people and said: 'Is Dhu al-Shimalayn telling the truth?' They said: 'Yes.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, completed the prayer, and prostrated twice while sitting.
