✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

وَحَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: نَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

اشْتَكَتِ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَقَالَتْ: أَكَلَ بَعْضِي بَعْضًا، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا بِنَفَسَيْنِ؛ نَفَسٍ فِي الشِّتَاءِ، وَنَفَسٍ فِي الصَّيْفِ، وَهُوَ أَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الْحَرِّ، وَأَشَدُّ مَا تَجِدُونَ مِنَ الزَّمْهَرِيرِ

Translation

✧ The Fire complained to its Lord and said: Parts of me have consumed one another. So He permitted it two breaths: a breath in winter and a breath in summer. That is the most intense heat you feel and the most intense cold you feel.
