حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: نَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ:
أَتَيْنَا إِلَى خَيْبَرَ، فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا ﷺ بَعَثَ عُمَرَ وَمَعَهُ النَّاسُ فَلَمْ يَلْبَثُوا أَنْ هَزَمُوا عُمَرَ، وَأَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالَ: لَأَبْعَثَنَّ إِلَيْهِمْ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، يُقَاتِلُهُمْ حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللهُ لَهُ. قَالَ: فَتَطَاوَلَ النَّاسُ لَهَا وَمَدُّوا أَعْنَاقَهُمْ قَالَ: فَمَكَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَاعَةً فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ ؟ قَالُوا: هُوَ أَرْمَدُ. قَالَ: ادْعُوهُ لِي فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُهُ فَتَحَ عَيْنَيَّ ثُمَّ تَفَلَ فِيهَا ثُمَّ أَعْطَانِي اللِّوَاءَ فَانْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُهُمْ فَإِذَا فِيهِمْ مَرْحَبٌ يَرْتَجِزُ حَتَّى الْتَقَيْنَا فَقَتَلَهُ اللهُ وَانْهَزَمَ أَصْحَابُهُ وَتَحَصَّنُوا فَأَغْلَقُوا الْبَابَ فَأَتَيْنَا الْبَابَ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُعَالِجُهُ حَتَّى فَتَحَهُ اللهُ
Translation

✧ We came to Khaybar, and when he ﷺ reached it, he sent Umar with the people. They did not stay long before they were defeated and Umar and his companions were put to flight. He said: 'I will certainly send against them a man who loves Allah and His Messenger and whom Allah and His Messenger love; he will fight them until Allah grants him victory.' People stretched their necks and looked forward to it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a while, then said: 'Where is Ali?' They said: 'He is suffering from eye inflammation.' He said: 'Call him for me.' When I came to him, he opened my eyes, then spat into them, then gave me the banner. I set out until I reached them, and among them was Marhab, reciting battle verses. We met, and Allah killed him, and his companions fled and fortified themselves, closing the gate. I came to the gate and kept working at it until Allah opened it.
