✧ The wife of al-Walid b. Uqba came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ complaining about al-Walid. He said to her: 'Go back and say to him: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has granted me protection.' She went away and stayed for a while, then she returned and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he has not stopped beating me.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cut off a fringe from his garment and said: Take this and say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is a fringe from my garment.' She went away and stayed for a while, then she returned and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he only increased me in beating.' So he raised his hands and said: 'O Allah, take al-Walid to account'—twice or three times.
