حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ: نَا الصَّمُوتُ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ الْخَالِقِ الْبَصْرِيُّ الْبَزَّارُ قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَ: نَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ الْحَنَفِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ قَالَ:

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَشْكُو زَوْجَهَا أَنَّهُ يَضْرِبُهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: اذْهَبِي إِلَيْهِ فَقُولِي إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ -: يَقُولُ كَيْتَ، وَكَيْتَ فَذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّهُ عَادَ يَضْرِبُنِي فَقَالَ: اذْهَبِي فَقُولِي لَهُ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ - يَقُولُ: كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ فَذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّهُ عَادَ يَضْرِبُنِي

✧ The wife of al-Walid b. Uqba came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ complaining that her husband beat her. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Go to him and say: The Prophet ﷺ says such-and-such.' She went, then came back and said: 'He has returned to beating me.' He said: 'Go and say to him: The Prophet ﷺ says such-and-such.' She went, then came back and said: 'He has returned to beating me.'
