✧ A slave girl of the Prophet ﷺ committed an offense—meaning she fornicated—so he ordered me to carry out the prescribed punishment on her. I went to her while her blood had not yet dried, then I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said: 'When it dries, then carry out the punishment on her.' And he said: 'Carry out the prescribed punishments on those whom your right hands possess.'
