✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

جَعَلَ اللهُ الرَّحْمَةَ مِائَةَ جُزْءٍ، فَأَمْسَكَ عِنْدَهُ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ، وَأَنْزَلَ فِي الْأَرْضِ جُزْءًا وَاحِدًا، فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ الرَّحْمَةُ بَيْنَ الْخَلَائِقِ حَتَّى تَرْفَعَ الدَّابَّةُ حَافِرَهَا عَنْ وَلَدِهَا خَشْيَةَ أَنْ تَقْتُلَهُ

Translation

✧ Allah made mercy into one hundred parts. He kept ninety-nine with Himself and sent down one part to the earth. From that one part comes all the mercy among creatures, so much so that a beast lifts its hoof away from its young for fear of harming it.
