✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْعَمِّيُّ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ اللَّيْثِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ:

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ مَا نَعْمَلُ أَشِيءٌ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ أَوْ شَيْءٌ يُسْتَأْنَفُ ؟ قَالَ: بَلْ شَيْءٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ قَالَ: فَفِيمِ الْعَمَلُ ؟ قَالَ: كُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you think that the deeds we do are something already decreed and finished, or something that is begun anew?' He said: 'Rather, something already decreed and finished.' Umar said: 'Then what is the point of action?' He said: 'Everyone is facilitated towards that for which he was created.'
