✧ Some people recited along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a prayer in which he recited audibly. When the Messenger of Allah finished his prayer, he turned to them and said: 'Did any of you recite with me just now?' They said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Why am I being contested in reciting the Qur'an?'

machine translationThis is a well-known report (khabar) of al-Zuhrī, from the narration of his students, from Ibn Ukaymah, from Abū Hurayrah. Al-Awzāʿī erred in it, for even the swiftest horse stumbles: he said, "from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab." Al-Walīd b. Muslim knew that he had erred, so he said, "from the one who heard Abū Hurayrah," and did not mention Saʿīd.
