✧ Abū Ṭalḥa prepared a pot of one mudd of food. He ordered me—or he said—he sent me to the Prophet ﷺ to invite him to the food. I came to him and said, “Abū Ṭalḥa has sent me to you regarding food he has made.” He said to the people, “Rise.” He said, “I came hurrying until I reached Abū Ṭalḥa, and he said, ‘What did you do?’ I said, ‘I invited the Prophet ﷺ and he invited the people.’ He said, ‘You know what we have, and you have embarrassed us with the Messenger of God.’ I said, ‘Yes, but I could not say anything to the Messenger of God ﷺ.’ The Messenger of God ﷺ came and called for ten people. The people sat down, and he placed the vessel in front of him. He spoke as God, Blessed and Exalted, willed him to speak. Then he said to the people—I think he said—‘Eat.’ They ate until they were full, then they stood. Then he called ten more, and they ate. They all ate, as I think, and there remained enough to satisfy his household.”
