✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was always kind and playful with us, so much so that he would say to a young brother of mine: 'O Abu ʿUmayr, what happened to the nughayr (little bird)?'

machine translationShuʿbah narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Yaḥyā b. al-Mundhir al-Ḥajarī, a Kūfan, narrated it from Ibn Idrīs, from Shuʿbah, from Jaʿfar b. Iyās, from Anas. Saʿīd b. ʿĀmir contradicted him and narrated it from Shuʿbah, from Qatādah, from Anas. Both are mistaken (wahm); the correct version is from Shuʿbah, from Abū al-Tayyāḥ, from Anas.
