✧ There was a man from the desert people named Zāhir b. Ḥarām, or b. Ḥizām — ʿAbd al-Razzāq was unsure — and he used to send gifts to the Messenger of God ﷺ from the desert. The Prophet said: Zāhir is our desert, and we are — I think he said — people of a settled area, or his settled area. The Prophet ﷺ loved him, and he was an ugly man. The Prophet ﷺ came to him while he was selling his goods and embraced him from behind until he pressed his back to his stomach. The man said: Release me from this. He said: The Prophet ﷺ turned to him and began saying: Who will buy the slave? The man said: O Messenger of God, by God, you will find me unsellable. The Prophet ﷺ said: But you are not unsellable with God. And he said: But you are with God profitable.
